About Tai O

 

Hong Kong is a floating city that tradition and architecture keep changing. There are not much evidence of the past have remained, they build, then demolish, then reconstruct. Everything is newer and higher. Tai O is a place where HK neighborhoods are remaining and we can take a good look at the past. In Tai O, you can be transported back to the time when Hong Kong was still a fishing village before its colonial history.

 

Tai O, as known as the "Venice of Hong Kong", is a hot tourist destination for both foreign tourism and domestic tourism. The stilt house built right over the waterway are still a beautiful scene that can draw hundres of people to Tai O everyday. 

 

The traditional salted fish and shrimp paste are the signature of Tai O. Streets are lined with shops selling seafood, seafood related products and local handmade snacks. Other than food,  dolphin watching tour are another must do activities in Tai O. Some local residents will take tourists out on their boats along the river and be the docent to guide tourists how to look for dolphins in the sea. With its beautiful waterway and unique stilt houses, Tai O is also a romantic place for couples to see sunset.
